28 imagesRochefort-en-Terre is a beautiful city of character built in the Valley Gueuzon, granite landscape of rocks, woods and meadows. Situated on a rocky outcrop, this location makes a stronghold since the early Middle Ages. A castle, a stronghold of the family Rochefort, was built in XII century and repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt. In the late nineteenth century, it is a ruin overgrown with ivy and brambles. It's wealth today is tourism. A wealth born of the inadequacy of the ancient city, ill at ease in these modern times. Without having enough resources to modernize and evolve over the last two centuries, the city remained frozen in time for its splendor, with its old houses intact.
